Sheers were contracted to upgrade the disinfection facility at a water treatment works operated by Essex & Suffolk Water.

The scope of the works included a full upgrade of the two chlorine drum storage rooms and the chlorinator room as well as modifications to the site motive water system.

The on-site works was required to be completed within a 3 month period and it was imperative that the works remain on-line throughout the duration of the works.

To facilitate completion of works within the designated period, Sheers pre-fabricated the system at the factory in Darlington before shipping the system to site and commencing installation.

No secondary disinfection system was available on site, so each stage of the works was co-ordinated to ensure continuity of chlorine dosing.

The works site installation was completed in July 2011 to the satisfactory of Operations, Engineering and Asset Management Staff.
